Nature Resourcing
Hello Dear Ones,
Welcome to September π
I've been thinking a lot about nature resourcing the last few weeks, something I'm often curious about as it's a foundational part of my practice, and it's been in my awareness a bit extra as of late after spending a week immersed in the woods (and wishing I could go back;).
First of all, what is resourcing?
"Resourcing" comes from the field of Somatics. A resource is simply a tool - something internal or external that we can touch into or focus on to support us with the state of our nervous system. For example an outer resource could be the tree outside your window and an inner resource could be your breath.
We call upon inner and outer resources to guide us toward feelings of safety and wellbeing.
When the inner body doesn't feel safe or welcoming, we can call upon our outer resources and vice versa.
Resourcing can help us practice letting our bodies be our guide.
The body's wisdom around what feels safe and supportive shows us how to (re)cultivate the pathways of connection, presence, and healing that we are longing for personally and as a collective.
So what is nature resourcing?
Nature resourcing is calling upon the support of nature or the elements to help us feel a sense of safety or wellbeing. That tree outside your window, or a walk around the park to clear your mind, that's nature resourcing.
We all know nature is healing.
And something that I find really powerful about this is that we can receive the benefits of nature resourcing physically or in our imagination. If you can't physically visit the ocean, you can imagine yourself there and still receive its energy and medicine.
When I feel ungrounded and scattered, I imagine my grandparentsβ lake house in East Texas. I visualize sitting on the dock under the stars. Listening to the gentle still water. Pine trees and Oak trees wrapped around me like a sacred boundary. And I feel safe and at home - in my body, heart, and spirit.
Nature resourcing has been one of the greatest gifts on my own personal healing journey as well as many of my clients.
With nature resourcing we not only receive support and guidance from the earth and the cosmos, but we remember that we are part of something larger than ourselves. We remember that we are connected to the vast web of life.
We reclaim our inherent connection to nature and our beautiful earth bodies. We remember and reclaim our true nature and interbeingness with the living world.
And I believe that is some of the most important work we are being called into during these times of climate crisis, political division, and the toxicity of dominant culture.
Through my work I help people come home to their bodies and come home to the earth.
Imagine both of these processes as an infinity loop π the more we come home to our bodies, the more we come home to the earth - the more we come home to the living world, the more we come home to ourselves.
So I want to introduce you to something I have been crafting for sometime now.
A space to...
Slow down
Soften into presence
Root back into your body and your true nature
Reclaim your birthright of belonging to the land and the cosmos
And follow your soul's purpose
I introduce you to...
Starlit Soil
Starlit Soil is an online communal space cultivating personal healing and collective transformation through embodiment and earth based spirituality.
I am calling in our soul family and could not be more excited, honored, and grateful to share this space with those that feel called to it.
